Title: "Last Dance"
Fandom; Pairings: Original (Aria universe); Selene/Mykolas (M/F)
Prompt: Public display of affection (One of my January [community profile] origfic_bingo prompts. The other four will be posted soon even though I'm late. :P)
Contents: Sexual situations, strong allusions to sex.
Rating: R
Word Count: 836
Summary: The is the first and last dance they'll share in public.
Notes: Banged this out this morning because of a niggling idea that would not leave. Apologies for glaring errors I may have missed in my impaired state (I have a head cold). One, I love to dabble in the present tense for short scenes like this. Two, I don't think I've ever employed song lyrics before, and it's not something I'll make a habit of, but this was just too intergral to the scene in my head that I wanted to include some. The song is "Slow, Love, Slow" by Nightwish from their 2011 album Imaginaerum, and it's not the sort of song you might expect to come from a Finnish symphonic metal band.

Nightwish - "Slow, Love, Slow" (Lyrics)

His timing is perfect. He waits until the precise moment when the last song is slowly fading into the next before I realize the music is taking on a slow, sensual beat. I feel the press of his body at my back, his left hand on my stomach to hold me tight against him. The familiarity with which he touches me sets me on edge until I recognize the scent of his cologne. I feel the warmth of his breath on my ear and hear his voice.

You owe me a dance... )

I've been writing...or trying to do something that closely resembles writing. I've not been terribly successful. Between real life stress and a sudden inability to be able to type more than 100 words or so in a sitting, this year has been exceedingly difficult. However, last night I realized I'd challenged myself way too hard by trying to do something overly complicated for [community profile] origfic_bingo. I made the decision to scale back and just do a simple one-line Bingo and not focus on lengthy stories that link together.

Naturally, I decided to write a little smut. (Who here is really surprised by this?) I thought I'd share a little snippet of what I managed to produce last night, and then I hope by Tuesday to have five little stories to post. (Not all of them will be erotica, okay?)

First, just a little background and some a lot of rambling:

Rambling about consent issues, power dynamics/kink. )

Sorry for so much rambling and over-thinking. It's just something my brain had to pick apart.

And the NSFW exerpt. Not terribly explicit, but also not exactly vague. Warnings for dubious consent. )

Going to make myself write today for Selene to finish the story that's been sitting here for a couple of weeks. I love the idea I have and I'm going to run with it. Pity I don't know enough RPers on Virtue to really have more fun with it. There are hundreds of them, but I've never quite been able to figure out how to role-play over City of Heroes. Then again, Sam's the one I rp with on occasion, and really, I kind of like keeping it to just us and maybe one or two other people should that come up. I have WoW for larger group roleplay.

Speaking of WoW, playing around on Savitry (who is level 76) has me thinking about Death Knights. I've written a couple of stories for Savitry and, in my head, her background is written. However, I've been toying with an idea, but I'm not quite sure how reasonable/logical it is.

Some musing on the nature of Death Knights. )

And this is why you do not give god-like powers to every single hero and villain who makes it to level 50. Upon discovering the first of Ninjaweazel's clones, Selene, who is currently recovering from having an entire building fall on her (a long story I may or may not write), makes a crack about not wanting to wake up to a world full of Weazels.

NinjaWeazel: *laughs* Making one damn near killed me. I'm not sure if I could do a second one whole-cloth.
NinjaWeazel: Yet.
Selene: ...there is just the one, yes?
NinjaWeazel: Yes. Technically.
Selene: *pinches the bridge of her nose and inhales sharply* It was a yes or a no question. What do you mean 'technically'?
NinjaWeazel: Well, I sort of... infused part of my energy into a dying Praetorian soldier.
Selene: How do you sort of *infuse part of your engery into a dying soldier,* particularly one that is in an *alternate dimension*?
NinjaWeazel: Well, I was in Praetoria.
Selene: And you thought, "Well, I've seen the sights now to complete the tour by finding someone near death and giving him part of myself"?

To be fair to NinjaWeazel, there was a little more to it than that. Just a little. Selene thinks the screening for the Well of Furies needs to be a lot more rigorous.

(My boyfriend has the craziest RP characters, I swear. Let us never forget the Black Mage in one FFRPG campaign who punched monsters in the face rather than burn them to a crisp from a safe distance.)

Title: Homesick (Part 4/?)
Fandom; Pairings: Original; AU Selene/Ballari
Prompt: #255 - Jackhammer
Warnings: Allusions to violent sex.
Rating: R
Word Count: 2,152
Summary: Before she can plan her next job, Selene needs to clear her head at a dance club. Sadly, this means dealing with an entitled jerk.
Notes: I admit it. My inner twelve year old giggled when she saw the prompt and wouldn't let it go. And who better to use it as an insult than Selene? Uh, anyway, you'll realize that I've skipped part three, which hasn't been written yet. It's on my list, but first there's another piece I have to finish (this weekend), so sorry about that! I'll let any interested parties know when it's written (and yes, that part will be NC-17).
Journal-Specific Notes: I need to do another post for filters so people can let me know what they want to see. Any erotica I've written/will write is filtered (what little there is), and if you want to be in that filter, just leave me a comment or PM me. LJ or DW, doesn't matter, the filters work on both journals.

After a full day of playing mistress and inventing new ways to torture and pleasure my pet, I wasn’t exactly in the mood to plan an assassination. My mind was too jumbled and my emotions too erratic to focus on such a detail oriented task. Though Ballari seemed to have accepted and even enjoyed discovering my dark side, I wasn’t foolish enough to believe she wouldn’t have a change of heart when it was all over. I thought it best I look for a way to unwind and clear my mind somewhere away from the beach house. That meant spending a few hours losing myself in the music at one of the local dance clubs.

While perusing the long list of clubs near my location on John’s computer, Ballari staggered into the room to check on me. )

Title: Homesick (Part 2/?)
Fandom; Pairings: Original; AU Selene/Ballari
Prompt: #252 - Samurai
Warnings: Talk of murder, assassination.
Rating: R (Eventual NC-17)
Word Count: 2,117
Summary: John stops by the beach house with a job for Selene. Trouble is Ballari might not like what this job requires Selene to do. (You don't need to read part one to be able to understand what's happening here, but here's a link just in case.)
Notes: This is something I banged out this afternoon, and it is a set-up for some kinky smut in part three, which I don't think right now I can fit into next week's prompt (Any joke in a storm), but we'll see. Either way I will write a part three soon and do my best to fill next week's prompt even if it's not Selene/Ballari. And this is one of those things where I sat down with one thing in mind and what came out was totally different. However, I happen to like what I wrote and I felt like I was in the zone, and that I've got Selene's voice nailed back down.

ETA: Now with the proper version up here and less copy-paste fail on the part of the author!

Every day Ballari would wake up before dawn and go outside to run through her katas with the sunrise as her backdrop. It never seemed to matter how little sleep she got the night before or how sore she might be from training and sparring. As soon as the eastern sky began to lighten, she was on her feet repeating the same movements she’d probably started learning the day after she took her very first steps.

Not being a morning person in any sense of the word, I usually slept in, rousing before noon most days. But sometimes I’d stagger out of bed to make coffee and watch her from the large bay window in the den. )

Title: Homesick (Part 1/?)
Fandom; Pairings: Original; AU Selene/Ballari
Prompt: #251 - Melody
Warnings: N/A
Rating: R (Eventual NC-17)
Word Count: 957
Summary: Ballari could sing in her own way.
Notes: Two characters of mine from vastly different table-top campaigns. In my head, I'd always wondered what they might be like together and the roles they'd take on in a relationship. Those who are familiar with Selene will find that she seems a little OOC here, and I'd have to agree; however, this is also an AU Selene who has suffered another loss and who finds herself in a strange world. Next part she'll show a little more of her old self. Those who remember Ballari might find it surprising to see her show a more vulnerable side, but it seemed right when I put her with Selene. (Technically it's the City of Heroes versions of them that I made, but there's no real mention of the world they're in so I didn't feel it fit that fandom.)
Journal Specific notes: This isn't filtered in my Smut filter because there's no sex as of yet. There will be, possibly in part two, at least that's my plan for now. If you want to be in that filter and either aren't already or aren't sure you are, just drop me a line.

I’m not the sort of woman to get sentimental. Emotions can be hazardous in my line of work—empathetic assassins are soon dead assassins. Even so, there had been the occasional exception to my “no attachments” rule; Mykolas and Karl sprang to mind, two men it still hurt to think about. Yet, despite the continued pain of their losses and the potential for betrayal, I found myself inexplicably drawn to Ballari again and again.

Maybe it was our shared loneliness. )

Title: The Weavers
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #214 - Splice
Warnings: None
Rating: G
Summary: Volos wonders if the Weavers (Fates) could alter the strands of life.
Word Count: 545
Notes: None. Late again, but before the prompt closed. The writing is bad, but I'm slowly adjusting to my new home.

Title: Don't Say That
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #213 - Keeping Score
Warnings: Language
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Selene hates those three special words, and when Mick says them, she can't deal.
Word Count: 567
Notes: This is technically forty minutes late, but I just moved this past week and almost completely forgot about this. So, just for tonight, I'll say I'm on Central time rather than Eastern. *shifty eyes*

Title: Hallucinations
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #212 - Your prison is walking through this world all alone.
Warnings: Language, adult themes.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Drugged with Dreamdust, Selene gets an unpleasant visit from her mother.
Word Count: 1,051
Notes: A rush job that I worked on in between packing boxes and loading up my truck. Had to post this now as I'll be moving to North Carolina Saturday and will be without internet access for a few days afterward.

In the days following Mykolas’s death, I dreamed. I dreamed of him, of blood, and of death. )

Title: Karl's Introduction
Rating/Warning: PG
Word Count: 1,724 words
Author's Notes: I figured out a long time ago that if I ever get around to telling Selene's story, there will need to be two books. The first will cover her life in Shadow and how it is she became so powerful there. The second book would cover what happened/would have happened in the Aria campaign I used her in last. That means the second book would introduce Karl, someone who is the focus of some of my Selene drabbles/stories. This is the very first and very rough draft of what could be his possible introduction. I have an idea for an introduction for Madoc, and then of course Selene's story. Seems I might be splitting my time writing both books, just doing what I can to write whenever inspiration hits. (Discipline? What's that?) Anyway, here you go. I need to work a lot on the dialogue, but this was more of a case of "Let me get this out while it's in my head" and I will be building on it from there...eventually. Yeah, needs a lot of work, but I'm not going to get better unless I practice.

(Fake cut to my writing journal. No, you are under no obligation to read.)

I have another [livejournal.com profile] august_writing challenge done. Once again it can be found over at my writing journal, [livejournal.com profile] jade_inspired. I'm not entirely pleased with how it turned out, and I don't think I actually managed to convey that falling in love is very much unchartered territory for Selene. <Geek Moment> She's very much like Faith in that season four or five episode of BtVS when she and Buffy switch places. When she freaks out over Riley wanting to make love to her because she can't figure out what he wants. That's Selene when it comes to Karl in a way. </Geek Moment> *Ahem* Sorry you had to see that. Moving along...

I have to admit I loved writing it and the words came easily. That hasn't been happening lately. I've had a lot of false starts and writing that went absolutely nowhere. Though it might suck, this has been very refreshing. It's like when the anniversary of Dad's death passed so did this creative blockage I've had for so long.

I really ought to get off my butt and write out all my ideas, and I know I should make a post where I explain, in detail, all about Selene and her world. Then I'll do one for Pasha as well (since I have an idea to write about her as well, and there's this epic idea in my head to tie the two stories together in a weird way - I don't know if that'll ever pan out, but it's there because I'm insane).

Also, writing about Selene and Karl is something of a catharsis for me considering Karl is based on another Aria character played by a former friend. It's weird to be able to write it and not have any odd conflicted feelings.

All this makes me wonder why I'm on a Selene kick, and maybe that's because her story is what seems most solid in my mind at the moment. I'm hoping I can maintain this boost of confidence I have and keep writing.

In other news, I finished reading Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, the first novel in her Sookie Stackhouse series and the basis for the HBO series True Blood. I must confess I enjoyed the television series much better than the book, and not because of the sex. I just think the changes HBO made for the series worked out better than it would have if they just followed the book. (Can someone please tell me why there is no Tara? And why is Lafayette mentioned only a handful of times? Oh, and don't get me started on "Bubba." That shit nearly had me throwing the book against the wall.) Despite all of this, I am already starting in on the second Sookie Stackhouse book Living Dead in Dallas. So while Dead Until Dark wasn't the best thing I've ever read, it was entertaining enough that I'm continuing.

After this, I have another set of Brust novels to read before Sam starts pestering me about it. (No, I haven't forgotten about it, Sam. :P)
jadedmusings: (Default)
I've been writing again, though some days, like tonight, I spend hours on only a couple of paragraphs because I have to perfect them. However, there are stories inside of me, and I want to get them out. Not sure anything will ever come of it, but I want to put it out there.

Anyway, right now I'm working on an actual book for one of my favorite rp characters named Selene. I've posted a couple of sucky excerpts or whatever over at [livejournal.com profile] jade_inspired, and I am actually putting effort into this. Don't know if it'll last, but I've got at least one person who seems happy for me to be writing it.

As always, music helps my muse function, and while I'm starting Selene's story prior to where Aria picked up, I am thinking ahead. When I reach the point where I'll introduce a very important character, I think the writing will turn carthartic in a way. I had thought I'd find the prospect of writing it painful after some events centered around another player, but I'm actually looking forward to it. (And, no, not because I'm going to kill him off in some horrible fashion - that wouldn't work at all seeing as he's important to Selene, but I've said too much and am getting waaaay ahead of myself.) Usually I dread dredging up memories like this, but for some reason these aren't so bad and actually pleasant (if you ignore the fact that both characters are pretty much evil and sadistic >.>).

And yes, this has all been an excuse to post lyrics that inspire me as I want to remember this song when it comes time to write the scene in my head even if it's in the distant future. If anything it might encourage me to keep writing so I can get to that point in the plot.

"Flames"
VAST

Close your eyes
Let me touch you now
Let me give you something
That is real
Close the door
Leave your fears behind
Let me give you
What you're giving me
You are the only thing
That makes me want to live at all
When I am with you
There's no reason to pretend that
When I am with you
I feel flames again
Just put me inside you
I would never ever leave
Just put me inside you
I would never ever leave you
