WoW: In case you're wondering WTF Folami is doing (apart from being frustratingly stupid).
I figure I better compile notes since I'm going to be out most of the day doing birthday stuff with Sam.
What Folami is doing:
• Going to Deatholme. She believes this is the best possible way to discover Kalavrin's--and subsequently Yarrow's--location. Her theory is that with everything that happened in Deatholme, the rituals involved (Yarrow has told her some of it), Solivar and Yarrow aren't the only ones to leave "pieces" of themselves behind. She knows Kalvarin's essence likely lurks on those grounds and if she can collect it or at least get in contact with it, she'll be able to get his attention. (A story is coming.)
• She also blames herself for Yarrow's abduction. After all, she was right freaking there in the Highlands! She was able to sense the strange energy when she took a few seconds to look a little deeper, something she's convinced herself she should have been doing all along instead of treating Hammerfall like a spa retreat where she got to be free of the horror for a few days. She should have been looking over her shoulder and because she wasn't, Yarrow might die.
• She left alone because she knows right now Keldris's priority is going to be Solivar. Folami is frustrated. Twice last night they were interrupted in their search and now everyone's attention has shifted. Whatever information they might glean from Solivar, potentially Baranthore too, is going to, in her opinion, take way too fucking long.
Of course, there are a few troublesome factors...
• Salih is back in Silvermoon on a two-week leave. He never made any mention of his guests and, so far, no one has asked anything about it. However, Catlali's little ritual didn't exactly go unnoticed and there may be some eyes watching the road to Deatholme. Maybe not closely, but enough to give a chance Folami might be spotted by those who have a very personal interest in her (this is her own plot that I'm trying to avoid bring too much into this one since this is about Solivar/Keldris/Yarrow, but it can be used against her).
• If she is spotted and word makes it back to Salih, he will try to find her and if he fails, he will go find the other members of Steadfast, probably doing so in a rage fueled by fear because he's learned quite a bit more in the interim as to what was done to his wife during her imprisonment. (He doesn't yet realize how hard it will be for them to control Folami as they were able to get Laila very early on when her true self began manifesting, comparatively speaking. Still, they can harm Folami in some ways and they can threaten her with her mother's and father's life.)
• Beyond that is what sort of things Folami will kick up in Deatholme itself. She is not going to tread lightly and will be poking at things with sharp sticks precisely because she knows that will get the biggest and most immediate reaction. (Time is of the essence after all.) She is also not going to be herself in the sense the control she's had (some of it with Yarrow's help) has the consistency of wet-tissue now. The gloves, as they say, are off.
• Finally, what she said to Solivar is true. She is willing to and will destroy herself if necessary, and every ounce of that will go toward completely destroying as much of Kalvarin's power as she can. Leaving aside Yarrow, that sort of evil must be stopped. And not to be overly dramatic, I am not ruling out the possibility of character death here (for certain values of "death" considering I have some fun little theories/ideas). I know Folami is being phenomonally stupid and will accept the consequences of such.
