Another Valentine's is upon us with another party at school. We have made our Valentine's and attached candy.

And another year goes by that I resist the temptation to print up little informative pamphlets about Lupercalia. Ahem.

I'm telling you, the cards with the bible verses and "God bless" on them made me want to so bad last year, but it was only one or two kids in his class that do the religious angle. Maybe when he's in high school...

Then again, it seems the Powers That Be saw fit to make it snow just enough to cancel school, and this came after the weather forecast said no snow.

Ah. Wow. Guess it's good you didn't wind up with a pile of unused mini-pamphlets, then. =) I printed up some for Easter once, but was too busy that weekend to drop them off in little plastic eggs like planned...

Not being an atheist, I'm not keen on telling little kids "Your/Your parents' god isn't real!" However, I do delight in pointing out the hypocrisy anytime someone talks about religion in school. It's only okay so long as it's Christianity, but they're really inclusive, honest! Just they only want to include the good religions...that they determine.

Personally, I'd love to see the true history of various Christianized or Christian-centric holiday become a requirement in education.

*nodnod* I can understand that. I was sooo confused by the pagan aspects of Christian holidays until I grew up and learned why, say, Easter is full of fertility symbols like bunnies and eggs. ;)
