Anyone know anything about Michael Stackpole, specifically his ability to write a tie-in novel? He might be the one writing the Vol'jin novel as he was announced to have been working on a new WoW novel back in July.

If you do know anything about him, do you feel yay, meh, or "OH FUCK NO" about his writing? He's got ties to Star Wars and Battletech, so that gives me a little hope. I'd really like to see Vol'jin's novel not be written by Knaak, and while Golden is better, it'd still be nice to see some fresh(er) talent take a chance.

Stackpole's a mensch of many years long standing in the RPG community -- he was one of the first people to call scientifically based bullshit on the whole "ROLEPLAYING GAMES ARE A SATANIC CONSPIRACY TO STEAL OUR CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDREN!" hysteria back in the day. If he's writing Vol'jin's novel, I feel it in good hands.

Ah, yeah, another friend of mine familiar with his Battletech work and some of his novels said he was entertaining at the very least. I'm really starting to hope it's him writing Vol'jin, because going by previous pattern, it'd be Knaak's turn otherwise. D:
