With regard to GP.

Yeah, there's still some bad blood there, and I'm noticing now I'm less willing to keep my trap shut about it. I'm a damn good player and, at that time, I was a brand new GM and I still did a decent enough job. I may not be a math whiz and I can't exploit the numbers like some people do, but I do make an interesting character and I stick by my concept as best I can without trying to metagame. Yes, even if it meant putting my character in danger and even when the GMs unfairly stacked the odds against me, I stayed in character and I didn't pull any punches.

Eh, it's all useless to whine about now, but some things were mentioned tonight and I noticed I don't have the tolerance for the bullshit anymore. I'm an incredibly patient person, but not for this. I know my worth now and I've got more talent than quite a few people out there.

Call me egotistical or arrogant, but damnit, I've earned the right to be by now.

(And no, this isn't only about gaming. It's about other stuff too, but gaming is one way in which this is showing through.)

It depends on who is saying it and how they say it. When a parent said it when I was growing up, it was never a good thing (usually a rant about cleaning my room and/or taking more reponsibility). When a significant other says it, I panic immediately because of a really shitty relationship I was involved in ten years ago (oh my god, it was that long ago).

On the other hand, if my friend Deec or another friend called and said that, I'd know immediately he either needs to vent or simply needs some comforting words of support.

Assassins Guild? Are you kidding me?

Adventurers' Guild ring a bell for anyone? Rikomi? Ursula? Plot Kills done by the assassins? Does anyone remember the can of worms that opened?

I'll just laugh now that the proposed character is GM controlled. The laughing is so I don't keep hitting my head against the desk. Yeah, I believe that everyone intends to keep it under control and not let it get out of hand, but in practice, it's a lot more difficult.

Oh, I agree the idea is cool. Maybe not all that creative because I've seen it several times now (including GP), but it's still cool. I can see why it'd be totally awesome to play, but I've seen it go bad too.

...or maybe I'm too cynical for guild games anymore.

For the record, I'm honestly not trying to be a shit-stirrer. Keep in mind this is in my journal and not on the forums or on IRC. (Well, ok, maybe in a couple of IRC rooms, but not any related to Triumph.)

P.P.S.: Wow, I'm typoing all over the place yesterday and today. I'm gonna go finish Book 2 of Avatar. Kiddo's missing out on speech because I am so not feeling up to the driving (that, and I think he's getting it too).
