Despite having a child in school, I still cannot get into the swing of being a morning person. My body refuses to adjust to my life and I have accepted that I will just be dragging my feet every morning. So, yes, I'd choose to sleep in any day over breakfast, which is my least favorite meal of the day anyway.

However, if I was promised sushi from a certain restaurant I love to go to, I would get up and drive to it, even if it meant being up at dawn. Of course, this would be for special occasions and not an everyday occurrence, but it is good enough to make me consider overcoming my desire to sleep in.

Oh, wonderful. The weather service is calling for one to three inches of snow accumulation tomorrow afternoon and night.

[Pause here for my friends to the north of me to roll their collective eyes and/or point and laugh.]

What this means is that people in my town are going to panic because, Oh. My. God., there will be white stuff on the ground. The roads will be shit, even with such little accumulation because it's not like anyone around here even knows what a snow plow looks like, and salt? That's just something you put on food. If I could find a bag of rock salt within twenty miles of here, I would eat my proverbial hat.

I'm not afraid of driving out if I have to (I do need to get some things from the store, but I'm going to plan to go long before the forecasted time for the snow to start), but I am afraid of other drivers. It's not their fault we rarely see snow that accumulates and doesn't melt a couple of hours after it starts. They simply don't handle icy conditions well because they dont have the experience. My year in Maine taught me a lot about driving in winter weather, so one to three inches is child's play, really, but oh man other people are going to panic.

At least there's no need to worry about school cancellations. The kiddo is off from school tomorrow and Monday. In that respect, the snow's arrival was timed very well. It almost makes me laugh.

Also, it's really cold tonight. I wish I had someone to snuggle, but that won't be for a few more weeks yet.
