Snowmageddon 2010
Feb. 13th, 2010 01:41 amMy power has fluctuated all afternoon and then it finally shut off around 9:00 PM tonight, but was turned back on within two hours only to go out again around midnight. It took about another hour for it to be turned back on. I'm awake because I want to be sure it's going to stay on so that the central air has a chance to reheat the house (the temperature dropped fast). Seriously, South Carolina is not equipped to handle this sort of weather.
It appears to have finally stopped snowing within the last hour and it looks like we got about four inches of snow more or less. In theory, it should start to melt by late tomorrow morning, but we'll just have to wait and see. Either way I'm not planning to go much of anywhere until the roads have a chance to clear up a little. If it does clear up enough, Mom is taking the kiddo tomorrow for an overnight visit.
I am so glad Monday is a holiday. It not only gives enough time for the snow to go away, but also more of a chance to catch up on some much needed rest for both the kiddo and me.
At any rate, we're surviving Snowmageddon 2010 and I don't expect we'll become popsicles. Also, I have learned that Sasha loves running outside in the snow... for about five minutes before she realizes it's cold and wants to come back inside to dry off.
ETA: Right after I hit post, my power went out again and stayed off for about another hour. It's 9:00 AM now as I write this and already the snow is melting somewhat outside. I did not sleep well or near enough, but I can't go back to sleep. To say I am grumpy is to put it mildly.
