WTF is in the water this week?

Good lord, what are people on this week? There was some wank last night in grammarwhores of all places, and now it looks like there's moderator drama in another unlikely community related to writing.

It's bad enough that everyone in my gaming groups apparently took their crazy pills or their jerk pills, but now it's spreading to LJ in the oddest ways.

In other news, I'm going to Atlanta this weekend (leaving Friday) and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to getting away from it all. Also, today looks like it's about to turn very, very shitty as Mom called me earlier today and informed me she has to take one of her dogs to the vet...possibly for the last time. *sighs* The hits just keep on coming.

Where Is South Carolina's Governor?

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford left his mansion in a black sports utility vehicle on Thursday and hasn't been heard from since, according to reports.

The governor's wife told the Associated Press Monday that she does not know where the governor went. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer also said he does not know where Sanford is -- but that he has not been put in charge in the governor's absence.

Neither the governor’s office nor the State Law Enforcement Division is able to reach Sanford, according to The State newspaper in Columbia, S.C.. A mobile telephone tower picked up a signal from Sanford's phone near Atlanta, making that his last known whereabouts, the newspaper reported. The governor's phones, however, have been turned off, and he is not responding to phone calls or text messages.

The governor's wife, Jenny Sanford, said she is not concerned about her husband's absence. She said, the AP reported, he needed time apart from his children to write something.

The governor's office reportedly will not discuss the specifics of Sanford's travel or security arrangements but issued statement saying, "Gov. Sanford is taking some time away from the office this week to recharge after the stimulus battle and the legislative session, and to work on a couple of projects that have fallen by the wayside."

Sanford recently lost a court battle to refuse federal stimulus funds that were specifically dedicated to educational purposes.

There is no indication of foul play, the State newspaper reported.

Getting away from your children on Father's Day weekend? That's kind of, I don't know, rude, isn't it? Maybe it's because I lost my father last July, but I'd rather have my dad around for Father's Day at least, and then he can go back to working on whatever it is he needs to work on. Also, as a resident of South Carolina, I gotta tell you it makes me feel so great to know my governor has disappeared. Is there a terrorist threat we're not aware of? (Hey, South Carolina would be one of the most likely places where a person could produce a dirty bomb or get hir hands on some radioactive material.)

All joking aside, I do sincerely hope they're right and that Mr. Sanford is fine, but something reeks of bullshit. I know Sanford's been a pretty crappy governor, yet he hasn't been so unprofessional (and this is rather unprofessional) as to leave office without any explanation as to where he is or when he'll be getting back to my knowledge. Still someone knows something as Bauer hasn't been put in charge. Strangeness abounds this week.
