Nobody panic. Ordinarily I wouldn't be online, but I woke up with a horrible headache around 4:00 AM, took some Tylenol, and tried to go back to sleep. The headache eased up a great deal, but then, around 10:00 AM, it came back with a vengeance. I tried taking more Tylenol, but it never worked again, so finally at 11:00 AM, I drove over to Rite-Aid and picked up some Excedrin since that's usually the only thing that'll knock out my headaches 100% of the time. It's worked, and my head is clear. Unfortunately, the caffeine has made me a bit wound up, so there's no going back to sleep for me. :(
Anyway, Sam's sleeping in while I play on the laptop he helped me repair. All it needed was a new hard drive, which we purchased yesterday along with an external hard drive so I can finally back up the computer at home. ^_^ He's been really cute about it, too, and keeps proclaiming himself King Nerd.
Oh, and we're staying at a hotel room since Sam's roomie's mother-in-law has been staying at their house and has come down with a stomach bug (yes, this is after she's had heart surgery on Sunday and Sam's roomie came down with Swine Flu though he's in the clear). Sam's roomie was kind enough to cover a two-night stay here at the hotel, and I'm totally going to be repaying his kindness (I'm thinking if Sam visits next month, I'll send him back with cupcakes or something as a thank you gift). As for Sam's Bell's Palsy, well, it's not doing a whole lot better. He can blink both eyes now at the same time, but he can't wink with his left eye yet, and the left side of his mouth is still paralyzed. The doctor is going to call him Monday and see if it's improved any further, and if it hasn't, they're going to schedule him an appointment with a neurologist to be on the safe side. Also, he's still being told to stay away from work and relax, and right now he's got another doctor's note excusing him from work until Tuesday. When he talks for longer than a couple of minutes, it becomes noticeable that there's something wrong with his speech, and since his job is talking on the phone doing tech support for eight hours a day...well, he can't do his job. :(
But it's not all bad news, obviously. Sam and I have managed to have a great time (apart from my headache this morning), and last night I finally got to eat at the Marietta Diner. Oh my god, it was soooooooo good.
Also, the kiddo has had ten green days in a row at school, and he was rewarded with a prize. He chose a three-pack of tennis balls and apparently told the teacher he got them to play with the dogs, which is funny because I think out of all the dogs he knows (ours and Mom's three dogs), only Alvin, Mom's youngest dog, would be interested in chasing them. Sasha does chase balls on occasion, but she's never shown much interest in playing fetch, or just retrieving in general. She's too ADD for any of that. ;)
And that's pretty much it for now. I'm letting Sam sleep in a bit more since it is his birthday and all, then we're going out to eat and hitting the mall before finding out what the plans are for tonight. Sam has said that even if his friends can't make it, we're going to go see Where the Wild Things Are, since he's been insisting on seeing it since we first saw the trailer a few months back.
...and I keep reaching for my mouse and forgetting I have to use the touchpad. Totally buying a USB mouse soon.
