Remember how earlier I said I tweaked my back the other day while standing and coughing at the same time? Yeah, about that...
A couple of hours ago, while cooking, I had the onerous task of walking to the kitchen table to assist the kiddo with his homework. When I neared the table, I took one step on my left foot and...well, some pretty serious pain shot down my left hip and into my left leg. I said some words I shouldn't have said in front of the kiddo and for a few seconds while I stood bent over holding onto the edge of the table for dear life.
Let me repeat this: I didn't slip, didn't turn my foot the wrong way, or anything like that. I was walking normally and screwed my back up.
Once the stars cleared away from my eyes, I was able to limp and shuffle my way around the house and called Mom for advice. She told me what I already knew, that it's likely my sciatic nerve and, again as I already knew, it's one of those delightful things I probably inherited from my father. She did offer up some pain management advice. Sadly, I think my heating pad is still back in South Carolina, but Thursday I'll be at Sam's parent's house and will be making use of their wonderful hot tub.
In between my whimpering (and being embarrassed that I needed Sam's help to get up from the couch), I've also been grumping about my body being so failtastic. I know people who have thrown out their backs putting on their socks, but they're in their fifties. I'm only thirty for Pete's sake. Then again, my father had his first back surgery in his late thirties.
The living room TV is working and I'm set up on the couch in a comfortable position, provided I don't move too much. Prissy has seized the opportunity to lie on my chest and is purring contently. I'm very glad she's such a tiny cat.
Anyway, instead of cleaning up tonight, looks like I'll be watching NCIS, catching the season premier of Deadliest Catch, and of course, participating in some WoW RP.
