Just saw this on Twitter:

And Jaina called for genoicide in Tides of War. Meanwhile Varian has apparently found his inner peace or at least has suddenly become reasonable.
What are the odds that Tyrande will be talked down from violence by Malfurion, Velen, et. al just like Jaina was talked down by Kalecgos and Thrall in Tides? You know, so women get to be unreasonable and emotional while the men around them act like cool, logical creatures despite the fact that EVERY OTHER TIME they're not.
Now I almost feel guilty for praising Kosak for the Dagger in the Dark Scenario.

Date: 2012-11-30 06:01 am (UTC)Me, I spent most of that scenario wondering how the fuck Varian dares keep telling people to trust him. Sure, what he's saying now sounds reasonable, but doesn't he realize his trust capital is so far into the red it's invisible to the human eye?

Garrosh is being a bit cliche bad guy ("Go dig me up some ancient evil weapons!"), yet he's actually not behaving like the spoiled child he was in the Twilight Highlands opening.
Still, you're not the first to play Ally side where I've heard of Varian acting like he's always been the reasonable, trustworthy sort.

The thing I'm actively resenting the most about this whole thing? Varian Wrynn had a perfectly reasonable personality/characterization in the much-reviled comic book. He did. It took basically ignoring everything done with his character there to turn him into the irrational douche he's been for the last two expansions and five novels, to add tension to his narrative arc, and bring him around to this point. Does he at least have the decency, Alliance-side, to acknowledge what a fucking tool he's been? Does the narrative? Or do they simply do a seamless personality transfer between Varian and Jaina?
