Look, I wrote something (sucky)!

Author's Notes: I figured out a long time ago that if I ever get around to telling Selene's story, there will need to be two books. The first will cover her life in Shadow and how it is she became so powerful there. The second book would cover what happened/would have happened in the Aria campaign I used her in last. That means the second book would introduce Karl, someone who is the focus of some of my Selene drabbles/stories. This is the very first and very rough draft of what could be his possible introduction. I have an idea for an introduction for Madoc, and then of course Selene's story. Seems I might be splitting my time writing both books, just doing what I can to write whenever inspiration hits. (Discipline? What's that?) Anyway, here you go. I need to work a lot on the dialogue, but this was more of a case of "Let me get this out while it's in my head" and I will be building on it from there...eventually. Yeah, needs a lot of work, but I'm not going to get better unless I practice.

I would spend as much time with my loved ones as I could. I would probably pack up the dogs, the kiddo, and Sam, and drive out to California so I could see the Pacific Ocean, and then drive up to Washington to see what all this fuss over Seattle is about, but mostly, I'd surround myself with the people I love for as long as I could so they'd know how much they meant to me.

This can only end in hilarity.

This is What Happens When Jade Lacks Sleep

I haven't had a decent night's rest in a couple of days, and I've been really silly today. I suppose that's better than being grouchy, which I likely will be tomorrow if I don't get a good night's sleep tonight.

Anyway, so far today I have had some hilarious instances of misreading words. On Twitter, I read "teenagers" as "tea baggers." Then, I was linked to a nice picture over IRC and the website was "creative uncut," but I read it as "creative cunt." ...yes, I do happen to see the pattern there. It is really interesting how much substituting one word for something can change the meaning of a sentence or even an entire website.

In other news, I've switched from Opera to Google Chrome for browsing. So far I like it, but I wish Google gave me the option of opening a new tab at the end of the row instead of next to the tab I'm opening it from (Opera offers this option, but don't see anything in Chrome's options so far). I've got four tabs that are always open (e-mail, LJ, Twitter, and Wordpress) and I like to keep them grouped together. Really, it's more of a matter of me being lazy and not wanting to take the two seconds to either move a tab over, or waiting until I'm done reading it to close it, and it's not a real complaint about Chrome. It's small, fast, and it's very easy to use. I think I'm going to keep it as my primary browser.

I learned while backing up my files this weekend that I have 19.1 gigs of music on my computer. I suppose that's impressive until you learn that my collection isn't even one-fifth of Sam's massive music library.

Finally, as I said on Twitter today, I think it was a bad idea for me to download and use "Supermassive Blackhole" by Muse as my cell phone's ring tone. Whenever I get a phone call I get the urge to dance, and the kiddo looks at me funny if I dance my way over to the phone to answer it.

...I really need to get some sleep tonight. I am so silly. And yes, post(s) about Atlanta trip is forthcoming, I think. There wasn't much exciting that happened.
